MILITARY UNMANNED GROUND VEHICLES HAVE BECOME ESSENTIAL HARDWARE IN COMBAT ZONES AROUND THE WORLD.

The North Defence ULV is built for the last mile of the modern battlefield. Engineered from the ground up in Steinsel, it combines autonomous “follow me” logistics with an interchangeable mission deck. It carries the load, adapts to the task and keeps soldiers out of the line of fire.

LUXEMBOURG X UNITED KINGDOM

Mission Ready

The ULV brings the core requirements of tactical ground autonomy together in a single 4x4 platform. It carries up to 1,500kg, roughly three standard NATO pallets. It plans its own route, follows its soldier and steers around obstacles. Every detail has been engineered to lighten the load on troops and maximise effect in the field. When the mission calls, the ULV answers.

FOLLOW ME, BY DESIGN

Leader-follower autonomy links the ULV to a soldier wearing a UWB “Follow Me” beacon, so their hands stay free and fatigue stays down on the move. Waypoint navigation and obstacle avoidance use IMU and stereo vision to keep it moving with the unit across changing terrain.

SEES MORE, THINKS FASTER

Stereo-optical and thermal cameras face forward, and wide-angle cameras cover the sides and rear. An NVIDIA Jetson Orin runs North Defence’s in-house software stack. Operators can take control by handheld tablet or VR headset, connected over mesh radio, 4G, 5G or Starlink.

ONE DECK, EVERY MISSION

Interchangeable mission kits lock onto captive track tie-down rails across the deck and sides. The ULV can run as a pure logistics carrier, or take the CASEVAC kit, with perimeter upstands and stretcher tie-downs for tactical casualty transport. It can also carry 36 Stark Cascade launchers in six groups of six on North Defence’s modular cage mounting system.

Ready for Anything

Capacity

A 3,565mm cargo bed and 1,500kg payload give the ULV serious carrying power. Three side storage lockers keep essential kit secure and close to hand. It measures 5,365mm long and 1,900mm wide, with a gross vehicle weight of 3,500kg.

Powerful

A 240hp (184kW) diesel engine delivers 600Nm of torque between 1,750 and 2,250rpm, so the ULV pulls hard at low speed even with a full deck. Hill hold and downhill descent control keep it steady on steep slopes.

All-terrain

Permanent four-wheel drive, 240mm of ground clearance and run-flat tyres keep the ULV moving when the ground turns hostile. It has a 34-degree approach angle, a 21-degree ramp-over angle and a 35-degree departure angle, and it can ford water up to 840mm deep.

Fail-safe

If the ULV loses power or communications, or meets interference, it brings itself to an emergency stop. It cannot run away, and the crew never has to guess what it will do.

Built on a foundation of Luxembourg manufacturing expertise and developed to NATO operational standards, the ULV is more than a cargo carrier. It is a complete rethink of what an unmanned ground platform can do - compact enough for forest trails, agile enough for urban terrain, and versatile enough to switch between logistics, kinetic support and casualty extraction.

In modern operations, the last mile is often the most dangerous. The ULV delivers the autonomy, carrying power and adaptability that fast-moving situations demand. It is engineered and manufactured in Luxembourg to the highest NATO standards.
