Job Summary:
As an Auto Electrician you will work within our already established Electrical Team and be responsible for installing and troubleshooting electrical systems during vehicle conversions into military spec light mobility and general service vehicles. The role focuses on upgrading, installing and modifying complex vehicle electrical systems, such as power systems, communication equipment and protective electrical components, to meet mission-specific requirements and defence standards. The vehicles will be modified for enhanced durability in
the most challenging and demanding environments. The role is critical in ensuring that vehicles operate safely and efficiently and provides a great opportunity to join a progressing business and the chance of personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Electrical Conversion & Installation
- Installing new systems: adding new electrical systems or components, such as aftermarket cameras, auxiliary screens, auxiliary and emergency lighting, winches and internal power supplies.
- Installations of electrical looms
- Use power tools, hand tools and specialised equipment to perform electrical work efficiently and safely.
Diagnostic, Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform diagnostics on electrical systems using multimeters, scanning tools and other test electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct functionality tests after installation of new systems.
- Inspect completed conversions to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and ISO Automotive Electrical guidelines.
- Staying updated with the latest technology in our sector and development in vehicle electronics.
Technical Documentation
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and conversion build sheets.
- Working closely with our Design Department, update electrical drawings and documentation for each converted build.
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, materials used and modifications.
- The individual will require a natural and inquisitive aptitude for investigating electrical and mechanical problems.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow automotive electrical safety standards and workplace safety standards in line with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001
- Adhere to all regulatory and company guidelines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Certified Auto Electrician or relevant trade qualification
- Proven experience with automotive electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams.
- Skilled in the installation of auxiliary lighting, communication equipment, electrical components
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on 4×4 vehicles or commercial fleet modifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and ongoing continuous improvement
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary workshop team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a fast-paced build environment
- Clear communication and documentation
- Full UK Driving Licence
Preferred
- Previous experience with military, defence or specialised vehicle conversions would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with modern vehicle electronic systems
- Willingness to travel to our new production facility in Luxembourg.
